- Closer to 6 months began holding head somewhat steady for long periods
- Transferring Objects from hand to hand
- Babbling became more varied and more frequent
- 1st Specialist Appointment
- Begins Sleeping 10-12 Hours Per Night (4 months)
- 16 lbs at 6 month appointment
6-7 Months
- Solid Foods Begin
- Rice Cereal Evokes Severe Vomiting
- No Other Food Issues - Spoons are a success!
- Babbling and Smiling Stop
- First Eye Appointment
7-8 Months
- Major Growth Spurt: 3 Month Clothes to 9 Month Clothes in one month.
- Very Sleepy Months
- Begins to sit assisted in Bumbo or with Mama
- Lactose Intolerance Goes Away
8 Months
- Babbling Begins Again: Stronger than Ever
- Smiling slowly coming back
- JUST beginning to put weight on hands
- Starts babbling Mama and Dada (jury's out on which was first!)
- 2nd Hearing test a success! Hearing is 100%
- Thyroid Test Done
- First time being sick & First ER Visit (Strep Throat)
- First CBC
9 Months
- WE HAVE A ROLLER!!!!!
- Glazed over phase is definitely done
- Begins popping his lips
- Eye Contact Begins to be very strong
- Putting weight on hands regularly
- Begins reaching for toys while on tummy
- Drinks from a straw
- Closer to 10, begins full rolling (back to belly to back again)
- 19.4 lbs and 27.5 inches long at 9 month appointment
10 Months
- Continuous Rolling begins - only to the right
- Talking even more than ever..lots of new sounds
- Stops drinking from straw or sippy cup...back to bottles for diluted juice
11 Months
- Putting weight on hands while on tummy
- Begins waking up at night to play for first time since 10 weeks
- 2nd bout of Petechiae all over body (Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease)
- Says "Mama" in response to me
- Smiling All Day Every Day Again FINALLY
- Learns to use his legs to bounce in his bouncy chair
- Close to 12 months, LAUGHTER HAS FINALLY RETURNED!!!!!!
12 Months
- Begins to get red cheeks all the time
13 Months
- First tooth!!! Top Left Molar followed by Top Right Molar a week later
- Begins Sitting for short periods
14 Months
- Teeth coming in like gangbusters! Bottom Left molar followed by bottom two front teeth.
- Sitting for long periods of time unassisted while playing with toys.
- Putting weight on legs a little
- Pushing himself up on arms
- Starts showing interest in toys
15 Months
- Starting to try chewing chunkier foods and straw drinking again
- Transitioning purposefully from sitting to lying down
- Beginning to enjoy Peek A Boo a little for the first time
16 Months
- Blowing Rasberries!
- Started to bite and chew (chocolate grahams were great incentive!)
17 Months
- Little Man is Getting Grabby!
- Chewing Really Well - Eats steamed veggies, mac 'n cheese, chicken, you name it!
- Standing assisted
- Moving his walker backward like a boss!
- 11 Teeth so far! (4 molars, 4 top front, 3 front bottom)
- Starts reaching for people
- Begins to show strong likes/dislikes for things
- First sign of being upset when someone takes his toy away.
- 20 lbs
18 Months
- Chewing better than ever
- Even more grabby!
- The straw drinking is mastered
- 12 teeth!
19 Months
- Toys are officially his everything!
- 35 1/2 inches long and 19lbs (having some weight loss)
- Still has red cheek problem.
- Thyroid and CBC checks all good.
20 Months
- We've started the hair pulling, pinching, biting stage...ummm not so fun. Book
- Starts pulling himself
- The beginnings of some booty scootin are beginning! (much to our PT's dismay...)
- Becoming very mobile with scooting, rolling, twisting.
- Starts trying to climb down off the couch (Not awesome!)
21 Months
- Teething Sucks. That is all...
22 Months
- FULL ON BOOTY SCOOTIN! He's all over the place.
- Weight back on..up to 22lbs
- Pulling to stand!
23 Months
- Pouting is a new skill. :/
- Starts grabbing people's hands and placing them on what he wants
- Got some SureSteps!
- Starting Speech/Language as well as Occupational Therapy
This is really great to see milestones from other moms with babies with down syndrome. I have a 2 year old who's milestones are SO different from my daughter Joy. Thanks for your blog. I just recently started looking for other blogging moms! So helpful :)
